Girolamo Amati- violin, 1609

This violin is of the smaller Amati model, about a centimeter shorter than the standar violin. It as a noticeably flat top arching combined with  more pronounced back arching.

Top: two piece, spruce

Back: one-piece, maple.

Purchased by the National Music Museum from Laurence Witten family, New Haven, Connecticut, 1984
